Inline Skates?

The latest wheeled fitness craze, inline skates is gaining increasing momentum. From immense popularity 12 years ago to skate oblivion, the comeback is starting to develop with skate groups and circuits being developed in the capital and spreading to the home counties and beyond. Inline skating (and, indeed, quad skating) is rapidly becoming the new fitness fad.... and with the great ergonomic designs and latest technology available to manufacturers, this is the year for high quality production!

Free Skates (or Urban Skates) are a cross between aggressive and recreational inline skates. These skates are very popular for street skaters & are designed to withstand the unpredictable road surfaces of the urban jungle we call our City. They have larger wheels like recreational skates & share the shorter wheel base design of the aggressive frames, but they lack the gap in the middle for grinding (who needs it anyway?). Great fun, fitness and health on wheels!

Speed skates, hockey skates and aggressive skates are NOT recreational or freeskates. Speed skates are for speed skating, hockey skates are for hockey and aggressive skates are for ramps, verts and aggressive skating.
For advice on quad skates & inline skates and information about which skates are right for you, read our advice at www.wheeledfitness.com.

Socks are an important accessory to any pair of skates. I suggest a pair of ski socks, but some people prefer thinner alternatives. Ankle socks or thin nylon socks are not recommended for streetskating!
You should aim for a pair of skates that feel snug, but not too tight and for the sake of streetskating I recommend something with a hard shell, like the FSK Salomon Crossmax or Deemax range. You should be able to move your toes, but the boot shouldn’t be loose enough to let the foot move too freely!
